Diseases Caused Due to Abnormally High HGH

According to the philosopher Cato, “Too much of a good thing is bad”. This saying holds especially true in human hormonal levels, specifically the human growth hormone (HGH). The growth hormone is a protein based peptide hormone, and is created by the pituitary gland. It stimulates cell reproduction that leads to growth in humans.
One of the most frequent hormonal disorders, abnormally low and high HGH lead to a myriad of health problems in both children and adults. Those who have too little of the hormone suffer from dwarfism. Those that have too much of the hormones suffer from a long list of issues.
High HGH levels in children
High levels of HGH secretion in children result from a benign tumor in the pituitary gland. It should be noted that this condition is extremely rare. The overactive HGH levels may result in gigantism, joint and muscle pain, and diabetes. It can also lead to other health problems.
High HGH levels in adults
High HGH levels in adults are also caused by tumors in the pituitary gland (adenoma). Early signs include headache because of the extra pressure on the optic nerves, and may attribute to the above problems, along with breast augmentation, specifically in men, and acromegaly.
What is acromegaly?
One of the most common side effects of HGH abuse is acromegaly. It only occurs in 6 out of 100,000 adults, and begins only after the skeletal and organ systems finish growing. It is caused by a benign tumor in the pituitary gland. Symptoms include, but are not limited too, enlarged bones of the face, feet, hands, glands, jaw and tongue. Excessive sweating, body odor, joint pain, and hoarseness are other symptoms. Surgery, radiation and medication may be used to treat the problems.
Other effects of HGH
Other side effects that occur because of artificial HGH enhancement include hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), glucose intolerance (high blood sugar), improper thyroid functions, heart problems (enlargement, attacks, and failure), hypertension, premature ageing, water retention, thickening of the skin, abnormal hair growth, liver damage, impotence, and breast enlargement in men.
Answers to Questions
Although these side effects are numerous, and the list does get longer. Most of the side effects result from abusing the artificial hormones, and the effects are irreversible. Many people inject, spray and take capsules that stimulate the pituitary gland to stimulate and release an extra amount of the hormones. These side effects can make the quality of life worse, and ultimately lead to life-threatening conditions.
Yet, people want to be taller, and the want usually out weighs the risks involved in illegal HGH products. So many counterfeits have a few, dangerous active ingredients, and carry the risk of contamination, especially through injections. But, there are other, safer alternatives.
The FDA have released supplements that do not have the same debilitating effects of the black market contraband. However, with safety comes a price, as the qualified treatments are generally much more expensive than the black market trade.
